Estes Park Elopement Adventure — Clint + Chey’s Rocky Mountain Love Story

Estes Park elopement, yes please! Followed by additional wedding portraits in Rocky Mountain National Park? Heck yes!

As an Estes Park wedding photographer, there’s nothing better than helping couples bring their mountain-elopement dreams to life. When Clint reached out via Instagram to chat about their upcoming plans, I could instantly feel their excitement. After a few messages, we were off scouting locations — their date was only a few short months away!

A few weeks before the big day, I headed up to Estes Park to explore their chosen spots in person. It was perfect. Since Clint and Chey were traveling from Oklahoma, I shared photos and live videos from each site so they could see everything from afar. Building that trust was so important — they hadn’t seen their ceremony location in person, only through my camera.

Challenges in the Mountains — Wildfires & Uncertain Skies

Just a week before the wedding, the 2020 Colorado wildfires began moving dangerously close to Rocky Mountain National Park. Smoke filled the sky, and the air-quality alerts were serious. I quickly checked in with Clint and Chey to make sure everyone was staying safe — especially anyone with asthma or respiratory sensitivities.

Traveling from lower elevations can already be an adjustment, so I suggested they grab a few cans of oxygen just to be safe. When it comes to mountain weddings, it’s always best to #AlwaysBePrepared.

The Wedding Day — Magic After the Smoke

As their Estes Park elopement day approached, we kept a close eye on both the fires and COVID-19 safety guidelines. We wanted to make sure everyone remained healthy while still giving these two the celebration they’d dreamed of.

And then, almost miraculously — the skies cleared. On their wedding day, the mountain views stretched endlessly across Rocky Mountain National Park. Their ceremony was intimate, emotional, and absolutely stunning.

Afterward, we captured breathtaking portraits throughout the park — the kind of images that remind me why I love being an Estes Park wedding photographer. As the day wrapped up, the weather gave us one last surprise: a quick burst of rain and the most dramatic, moody silhouettes to end their session.

A Dreamy Estes Park Elopement

From the DIY details to the unexpected mountain rainfall, Clint and Chey’s elopement was the perfect balance of adventure, love, and authenticity. Their trust and flexibility made the day flow beautifully — and the result was pure magic.

At Captured Perspective Photography, I follow all COVID-19 safety guidelines — masks were worn by all photographers and assistants throughout the day to ensure everyone’s comfort and health.
