This story of Andi and Tyler's surprise proposal is so good! Oh-my-gosh. But first, lets chat about planning your own surprise proposal. The time has come. You've made one of the biggest decisions of your life. You're going to propose to your partner. They have become your best friend. Your soul mate. You're ready to pop the question.

Now, can you pull off the perfect surprise proposal?

It can be difficult to surprise your partner (they already know all your secrets!) But when you nail it (and have a photographer capture it) your surprise proposal will be the most amazing start to the rest of your life.

While incorporating some tips about planning your epic engagement. I will also share Tyler and Andi's proposal story. It is one for the books!

I started working with Tyler nearly two months before his proposal date. He had BIG plans to throw into action. When I say big, this included lots of people traveling, plus Andi and Tyler moving just a few after their engagement. You may not always need this much planning time, but it certainly doesn't hurt.

Their Back Story.

Tyler and Andi have quite the history together. They met in college. Dated. Broke up. It was basically your A-typical college romance. But then, after their extended break, they made a really solid reconnection. Thus prompting them to continue to move across the country together. Adopting their adorable pup, Lucky. As well as Andi getting her dream *remote* job offer.

After Andi accepted her offer. Tyler was made a job proposal of his own, one that he couldn't turn down. But he need Andi's support! This offer included them moving again, to Montana this time. Tyler would be working on a remote ranch as a hunting and fishing guide. Since Andi knew she could work from anywhere, she didn't question supporting Tyler's dreams.

Since Andi was on board with Tyler's new job. He had to get to planning, this move was coming more quickly then either of them have thought. Tyler knew he was going to ask Andi to marry him, and give her the ring before they left Colorado!

The Ring.

Ring talk! Have you ever talked the about different ring styles your partner is in to? What about a perfect size? Do they have a certain stone type the love? Or have you decided on something totally different, like matching tattoos? Perhaps, the trending replaceable option is best for you both.

If you haven't had this conversation, planning your surprise proposal with an adorable alternative may be the best idea. You can check out Etsy.com for a great selection of substitutes while you find the perfect options for you both.

Tyler already had his ring in hand. He used a custom jeweler from their home town. And it did not disappoint.

The Location

When planning your surprise proposal the location is definitely key. Especially when you're hiring a photographer to catch all your special moments once you pop the question. These ideas can as big as planning your next greatest adventure, or as intimate as the two of you at your own home. If you've already settled on the perfect setting. Let's get to planning. If your still working out the initial details, I can help offer suggestions too. Just ask!

As for Tyler and Andi, he already had an entire vision for their day. He was having several family members and friends fly in from all over the United States. He would propose to Andi at the Standley Lake Reservoir near their home. Andi's sister was coming to visit. They were all going to walk to the lake around sunset and have a beer before dinner. This way, Andi wouldn't suspect a thing, they walked on these trails often.

The Moment

Meanwhile the remaining family and friends have will have already arrived by party bus and be hiding in their positions. They would all be in place to witness the big moment. Tyler definitely pulled out all the tricks on this one. Him and I had walked the trail before the proposal date. I knew where everyone would. They had more than 20 guests that came to gather for their engagement day. Tyler had custom signs printed dating their milestones together. He bought special champagne flutes for their first cheers. Their pup Lucky was on duty to bring them the ring. Everything was perfect. Sunset in late May, in Colorado. What could go wrong?!...We definitely didn't plan for was SNOW!

Tyler and I continued to watch the weather all week, the forecast just got worse and worse. We were both bummed, but knew we would make it work. Later in the week, we knew our hopes of golden hour + sunset with mountain views was out of the question. Now we knew it was going to be cloudy. But would we get rain? Or would we luck out with snow?

Their Surprise Proposal

And just at the moment Andi is getting her ring, she realizes all her friends are family are there too. Andi's reactions are absolutely priceless.

Following their proposal we ran to a nearby pub with a private speakeasy. They continued to celebrate their engagement with all their friends and family. Regardless of the snow, we had an absolutely perfect day.

Since we missed out on golden hour and mountain views, we also planned another photoshoot to get the weather that they dreamt of. A bonus engagement shoot after your surprise proposal. It doesn't any more perfect!
